I am absolutely thrilled to share a story with you about my buddy Jacob, who is a 14-year-old athlete and an all around great young man.
Jacob is a phenomenal football player and has dreams of playing college ball some day but, over the past couple of years things have been a little rough in his life.
As a result of the challenges, Jacob started to shut down quite a bit.
Jacob’s mom reached out to me a few months ago and Jacob and I began working together.
But, instead of telling you the entire story here, we thought it would be pretty cool to share a short video the No Limits team put together on Jacob’s story.
Note — I am a very lucky guy and I absolutely love what I do for a living! I get to experience the gift of helping people–especially young people–and I am thankful that I have the ability, passion and desire to do so. I ask myself all the time how someone as flawed as me would be afforded this gift of helping people move through their challenges or helping them reach their goals.
I am beyond grateful for these opportunities.
If you read my book, you know that I have been through more challenges in my life than I care to recount (all created by me) and it took me many years to learn what I needed to learn to create a life worth living.
Maybe that is why it’s so important for me to reach the young people out there with the No Limits teachings knowing that kids need to learn this information.
Who knows why, but either way it is SO important to me that I reach as many young people as possible…kids like Jacob who have all the potential in the world but begin to shut down through the emotional burdens and baggage that life can throw on us.
Every child has greatness inside of them (so does every adult for that matter), yet so many people have their greatness smothered and squashed from all of the internal toxins they are carrying around.
When that happens it’s difficult for people to function each day.
Sometimes it just takes someone teaching them how to get rid of those toxins or maybe giving them the tools they need or maybe it’s just having someone believe in you and your greatness.
I believe in you.
I believe in all of the young people out there who haven’t learned or have forgotten how to spread their wings to live the life they were meant to live.
Or, maybe they were kicked in the teeth by life and need a little help getting up and moving forward again.
I hope you will forward this message to parents and kids out there who may be struggling a bit or may just need the right information to take their life to a new level.
Just like you will see from Jacob’s story, the real person is inside, we just have to find the way to help them move through their challenges and rediscover their greatness.
I promise you they are worth it and I won’t let you down. Enjoy the video and the letter from Jacob’s mom.
Jacob’s Story as told in video from the No Limits Team:
Letter from Jacob’s Mom
Coach Mike, I found your website at three o’clock in the morning, I hadn’t been able to sleep for weeks. My 13-year-old son Jacob was experiencing a downward spiral as circumstances in his life had been difficult. His dad and I divorced, all four of his grandparents passed away within two years, we lost the family home and all of these were challenges that Jacob couldn’t work through.
I sought help for him in the form of therapy and he spent an hour every Thursday evening with a highly recommended psychologist whose practice concentrated on children and teens. There was some progress made early on in therapy but things remained status quo for years.
Eventually things for Jacob became much worse.
After three years and over $15,000 spent on his appointments I became frightened for him. His grades had been declining, he lacked any interest in previously loved sports, he was isolating himself from friends and talked of running away and harming himself.
Finding you was truly a miracle.
There was progress made after just one session. After the third session I felt that my son was starting to live the life he should have had for the last three years. He became excited for football camp, made some new friends and started to hang out with his old friends again. He started setting goals for himself and is excited about life! Jacob told me that you had done more for him than his therapist had in the previous three years. I’m not sure if I shared this with you already, but I was on the verge of medicating Jacob for his issues when I found you.
You’ve helped me tremendously as well, I’m seeing possibilities in my life turn into realities! Coach Mike, thank you from myself and Jacob. We cannot thank you enough!
